On 22 and 23 February 2011, BATS participated in the FRONTEX’s workshop on the deployment of integrated sensors and platforms for border surveillance at the EU external borders.
Many key stakeholders and representatives of EU Member States attended.
The objective of the workshop was to present and debate the main challenges related to integrated system solutions and their use for creating more efficient and effective border surveillance. The workshop focused also on other types of tools/platforms (e.g. Unmanned Aerial Vehicles) for border surveillance.
Leading organisations working in this field were invited to present at the workshop available technical solutions. BATS presented its latest generation of “persistent” radar GR12 as the cornerstone for advanced green and blue border surveillance and protection solutions.
FRONTEX, the EU agency based in Warsaw, is a specialised and independent body tasked to coordinate the operational cooperation between Member States in the field of border security. The activities of FRONTEX are intelligence driven. FRONTEX complements and provides particular added value to the national border management systems of the Member States.
